Douglas Johnson - AACC Vice President

 

Doug is the current Vice President of AACC and an honorary member of PIEAT contributing hundreds of hours a year of volunteer service to AACC. He has filmed and documented PIEAT's journey over the last 5 years.  He has supported PIEAT's mission through a documentary film, film for fundraising events, and the creation of PIEAT's own radio program in Jalapa.  In addition, he has provided the children of La Chureca the computer, programs, knowledge necessary for the development of their own radio program - 3 minutes with La Chureca.  Doug spends a lot of his time while in NIcaragua playing with children and providing a healthy male role model.  As seen in the photo above he brings a lot of joy to the children and adults wherever he goes by sharing his video and photographic talents.  Many of the men in Jalapa have gone to other towns or countries in search of employment and there is a large number of single parent households, the majority of which are headed by women. Doug is also instrumental in fundraising for AACC projects and is the brain behind the website. He works at the University of Colorado in Boulder, bike races, and plays the guitar.
